This is an exciting time for music lovers! I’m ignoring the new release of No Doubt in favor of Green Day. They used to be one of my favourite bands, so it’s pretty cool that they decided to release three albums in a couple of months! Here is the first single! xY.

Is it raining in heaven? Queen - No One But You (Only The Good...

Is it raining in heaven?
Queen - No One But You (Only The Good Die Young)

Lately, I’ve been listening to Queen like crazy. They have become one of my favorite bands. This particular song doesn’t really need an explanation. It’s hauntingly beautiful. “One by one, only the good die young.” xY.

Just lose control and let your body give inRyan Star - Start a...

Just lose control and let your body give in
Ryan Star - Start a fire

I think Ryan Star was one of the succesfull recommendations that Last.fm sent my way. I fell in love with his voice and listened to his album ‘11:59’ quite a lot.
This song has so much power(a look at the title is enough explanation, I guess) and I just can’t keep still while listening to it. xY.

I like the way you hurt insideGet Scared - HurtSo I basically...

I like the way you hurt inside
Get Scared - Hurt

So I basically don’t know this band at all. I wasn’t interested in how Diddy was back where he belonged or never felt so strong and everything else that came flowing out of his mouth, but from the first listen I thought that the chorus was so beautiful and haunting. A little research later I fell in love with Skylar Grey.

After 2 releases in 2011(Dance without you & Invinsible) she released a remarkable EP called “The Buried Sessions of Skylar Grey”. Besides her own version of Love The Way You Lie (obviously better than the original) and a new song (Words) there was a song called Coming Home - Part II. It turned out to be the song around the chorus of the Coming Home we already knew. This is the song I wanted to share with the world today, cause really. She’s amazing. ENJOY. :)

I really fucked it up this timeTonight Alive - Little Lion Man I...

I really fucked it up this time
Tonight Alive - Little Lion Man

I have to admit that I always have some room left in my music library for pretty much everything that includes some loud electric guitar, but I really really like this cover.
After all these songs, I’m still not sure what to think of OneRepublic. There’s no denying that Ryan Tedder’s an awesome songwriter & I do like a lot of their songs. But I still think their music isn’t THAT interesting and they seem to kinda suck live.

But like I said: I do like a lot of their songs. One of them is Good Life. Enjoy. :)

Got the heart of a winner, but looking back at me is someone...

Got the heart of a winner, but looking back at me is someone else
Dappy - No Regrets

This song is one of my favourites. Possibly, because I’m a complete sucker for Taylor’s voices. Possibly, for another reason. I’m not completely sure.
All I know is that this song is so simple, but to me it feels like it’s hiding a more sophisticated message behind these lyrics. I just love it. Enjoy!

I’m so high on miseryFalling in reverse - The drug in me...

I’m so high on misery
Falling in reverse - The drug in me is you

I’m gonna warn you in advance; I have a lot to say about this video, but it’s possible that all that’s coming out of my mouth (fingers?) is mainly blah-blah and a lot of flailing.

I used to be CRAZY about Escape The Fate a couple years ago. Then Ronnie had to leave the band & Craig took over and everything went downhill for me.(If you don’t know them; Old ETF: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4I7Ak1N2z8) I sort of liked parts of This War Is Ours, but everything they’ve released after that really disappointed me.

Then a while ago, Falling in Reverse was founded. I was really excited (I might have to add that Ronnie Radke’s is my weakness), but I didn’t really know if I was gonna like it as much as the old Escape The Fate Records.
I kind of forgot about them for a while. Then suddenly a while ago I stumbled across When The Drug In Me Is You and my eyes turned into hearts.
I LOVE this. I don’t give a crap about all the drama surrounding Escape The Fate & Falling in Reverse, and if the old ETF was all Ronny etc. This is AWESOMEAWESOMEAWESOME in my opinion(yes I’m a little ecstatic about this music) and that’s all that matters.
Let me know what you think (even if you think it sucks. I might bite off your toes, though.)!
MakeBelieve is a dutch band. I don’t really have much to say about this video, I just really like them & this song is lovely. Even though the summer in Holland has been awful, the summerbeat’s beating in my heart! ;) Enjoy!

It’s who I am, don’t have to try hardAvril Lavigne -...

It’s who I am, don’t have to try hard
Avril Lavigne - Wish You Were Here

I saw Avril Lavigne in concert a couple days ago and right now I’m completely addicted to all over her music, so it kinda speaks for itself that I chose one of her songs to write about today.

The song I chose is ‘wish you were here’, from her last album Goodbye Lullaby. When I first listened to this album, I had my doubts about it. There’s always been this discussion about the ‘new’ and ‘old’ Avril & I kinda like them both. This was rather different AGAIN, all acoustic and vulnerable. Most of all: it was all so simple.
Just like with a lot of other music though, I got used to it and started to like it. Right now, I can see what bothered me, but I’m starting to like the album for exactly that.

This video contains that simplicity, it’s just Avril and that’s all. But it’s the reason the focus is on the lyrics. I don’t know if her divorce was the inspiration behind this album, and I don’t really care, actually.

I really admire her for putting her emotions into this album, no matter what she’s saying goodbye to. It makes you feel exactly what she’s going through, which is one of the best things a musician can do, in my opinion. Enjoy!

I wanna lick the wrapperFraming Hanley - Lollipop

Sometimes it’s possible for an artist/band to turn a piece of shit into something amazing. In my opinion, this was one of those times.
I’m not even gonna spend words on Lil’ Wayne, but oh. my. god. It’s like a piece of heaven to my ears.
To be honest, I don’t know a thing about Framing Hanley (shame on me, with the amount of times I’ve listened to this cover) and I don’t like the video at all (which is why I highly recommend skipping to 02:05, this is when unicorns & rainbows start falling out of the sky in my head), but this cover is freaking AMAZING.

Do you really know it all? Shary-an - Mr. Know It AllToday I...

Do you really know it all?
Shary-an - Mr. Know It All

Today I decided to share a song by a dutch artist, Shary-an Nivillac! She was a contestant on The Voice Of Holland(which was actually the show that all other ‘The Voice (of….)’ shows were based on - please, let me proud to be dutch for once). She reached the semi finals on the show. I love her voice and was sad when she was eliminated. Her debut album is coming out soon, though, so I’m excited!

I was actually inspired by Kelly Clarkson today. I heard her new song, with the same title, ‘Mr. Know It All’ and decided I liked Shary-An’s song so much more!
So I tried to talk about Bohemian Rhapsody and came to the conclusion that I’m not very good at it. This song is so complex and amazing, that it’s taking the words right out of my mouth. They don’t make ‘em like this anymore, these days.
And let’s not forget the horrible music video, I love it! Remember: this video came out in 1975!
Also, if you’re in for a laugh, I highly recommend the cover by The Muppets: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgbNymZ7vqY

In my opinion the music Queen made would’ve fitted in this day & age, so far ahead of their time.
After Jo Calderone’s glorious performance at the VMA’s last night, this video seemed appropriate to me today. In my opinion the performance wasn’t her/his best, based on the vocals. But that might be because of my neverending love for this song. I’ve seen better. Her alter ego is fucking brilliant, though. I’m a sucker for androgynous men, so why can’t she?

Yoü and I is by far my favorite song on Born This Way. I still haven’t really formed my opinion on the video, though. I still don’t really get it, but sometimes I wonder if that’s not the exact point of Gaga’s work. And once again: my love for this song is gigantic. PLUS: Let’s not forget the guitar work Brian May(Queen) did on this song. He also performed with her at the VMA’s, and he was amazing as always.

Remember when…? Jojo - Leave (Get Out)

For some reason this song was stuck in my head today. I remember how I loved this song when it came out. She was only 14 years old, when this song was released!
